Jose Mourinho reveals how he persuaded Paul Pogba to join Manchester United

  Pogba was wanted by another big club, according to Mourinho.

Jose Mourinho admits it was hard work convincing Paul Pogba to join Manchester United this summer.

The France international completed an £89 million move to Old Trafford in August, four years after he left the club on a free transfer for Juventus.

And the United boss admits he was in a race with another manager from a ‘top club’ for the midfielder’s signature.

‘Oh! It was hard to convince him,’ Mourinho told Goal.

‘I had many [conversations] on the phone, lots of SMS.

‘I think he was getting one in the morning from the manager from another big club and one in the afternoon from myself.

‘I had to try hard to convince him to choose us instead of the other one.’
